Olivier Baussan is passionate about the region where he grew up: Provence. Founder of corporate brands such as Occitane and Oliviers&Co., he has dedicated his life to being a link between artisans with ancestral know-how and consumers.
At twenty years old, while searching for his calling, Olivier bought an alembic.
Through instinct, and years of youth passed in the middle of Provencal nature, he learned the virtues and secrets of plants. A perfect apprentice of alchemy, he quickly put himself to concocting essential oil-based shampoos that he later sold at the local market to earn his living. In order to build upon this initial trial, he decided with some friends to found his first company brand at the end of the 1970's. The beginnings were difficult, the enterprise scarcely survived.
The story could have stopped there. However, Olivier met an old artisan who confided his life's work to him: a soap factory. In Olivier's hands, these precious natural soaps would be his success. During a voyage in Burkina Faso, he discovered Shea butter that would take the Occident by storm and revolutionize the market.
With Première Pression Provence, Olivier returns to the land of his childhood. As a promise kept, he gives back to Provence that which it has given to him by allowing consumers to discover one of the greatest riches: the Provencal culture of olive oil and the stories of the men who live it.
